Navy Trains Officers On Security And Maritime Operations

The Nigerian Naval College, Onne has ended her basic security and maritime operations course for its officers. The training which was organized for 37 officers of the Navy focused on identifying and combating symmetric threats within the back waters and land areas.
In this remarks at the graduation of the pioneer set of the course, the Commandant, Nigerian Naval College, Onne, Commodore B.B. Kole said the course, tailored at exposing the young officers to the conduct of various maritime base operations as well as land operations also focused on identifying and combating asymmetric threats within the back ways and land areas. He said those who participated were exposed to the principles guiding vessel board search and seizure, maritime interdiction operations at sea, counter terrorism and counter insurgency operations.
Commodore Kole further stated that the officers were sufficiently exposed to the rudiments of conducting internal security operations in an urban area, basic tactics of ambush operation as well as developing their combat capabilities and survival techniques at sea as well as vigorous swimming which according to him is essential in the operations of the Navy.
The Commandant thanked the chief of the Naval Staff for the opportunity accorded the College to host the course, stressing that the College is very conducive for the training of naval officers in maritime operations.
