TREAT BAYELSA FAIRLY - Governor Dickson Charges Ecological Trust Fund Management Team.
The Federal Government through the Ecological Fund Office has visited Governor Henry Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State to identify critical ecological sites in the state.
Governor Dickson while commending members of the team for diligently carrying out their duties decried the unfair treatment meted the state by the ecological fund office.
The governor who described Bayelsa as the headquarters of ecological problems in the country also noted that bayelsa is the most impacted state in terms of environmental degradation arising from flooding, erosion, crude oil pollution and other challenges
His words "Every year, our communities have to be evacuated and farm lands are destroyed every rainy season. In Bayelsa, we have to create land by sand filling before building which makes the cost fifteen to twenty times more"
The governor reiterated his administration's commitment to complete the on-going construction of the 100km Sagbama/Ekeremor road regardless of the Ecological and economic challenges. He also stated that the Sagbama - Ekeremor road project being a senatorial road, ought to be a federal government road project.
Mr. Eunu John Africa leader of the federal Ecological team noted that all the prone areas will be identified and documented for onward transmission to the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) through the fund office.
